Eva Zeisel designed glassware for Federal Glass in 1954. Her first design was called Prestige, and was intended to coordinate with the biomorphic shapes of the dinnerware she had designed for Hall China and others. Prestige glassware comes in 6 shapes/sizes: the 5 1/2 x 2 3/4 highball, 4-1/2" x 2-1/2" tumbler, 4 x 2 l/2 juice, the 4 x 4" double old fashioned, the 3-1/4" x 3-1/4" old fashioned, and the 2 3/4 x 3" cocktail.

They have a heavy base which reflects in the glass, giving a prismatic effect. The glasses were often decorated for retailers with various cuttings, monograms, advertising logos and other specialty designs. They come either plain crystal or swirled, and in clear, glacier blue, amber, pink, and gray. We have heard rumors of other colors, but none are confirmed. One of the more popular versions of the glasses is the "Lo-Ball" decoration, Zeisel's amused commentary on the highball craze of the '50's, in which she had the words "Lo-Ball" imprinted on the old fashioned glasses in four colors: red, white, blue, and yellow. A creamer and sugar set was also created from a somewhat heavier version of the old fashioned glass. The glasses (all types) were very popular and were incorporated into many types of beverage services. Zeisel designed only the clear glass shapes. but not the other components of the sets in which they were used or the various decorative additions.

Prestige - crystal clear
Stockholm is the second glassware line designed by Eva Zeisel for Federal Glass. Released in the early 60's, it was very much in keeping with the popular Scandinavian Modern style of that era, but shares Zeisel's clean-line form and the heavy reflective base of the more familiar Prestige glasses. Eva designed 3 sizes; the 5oz (2-3/4")cocktail or juice glass, the 8 oz (3-1/2") old fashioned or water glass, and the 12oz (4-1/4") highball or iced tea glass. The 5-1/4" tumbler was apparently an extrapolation of Zeisel's design created by Federal Glass.
This design was also used extensively in advertising , for premiums and in the design of bar and cocktail sets so popular at that time. Stockholm did not receive the attention of Prestige, probably because of its later release, but seems even more Moderne now than then.
