Monmouth Stoneware
Zeisel designed some 50 pieces in 15 patterns for Western Stoneware under their Monmouth mark in 1954. These were unique in that she designed not only the shapes but also the decorations. One of the decorations is the "Pals" dinnerware, with abstract people-vegetable figures which has become very popular. They were also produced in 3 colors, in both matte and glaze finishes. The dinnerware generally has quiet, functional and simple lines, with a delightful addendum of serving pieces in the shape of birds. Again, Eva in the playful pursuit of beauty. After production, the Monmouth molds moved on to Hollydale of California and later to Schmid Ironstone, so these lines coordinate well with Monmouth, if you want to extend your collection.
